Amazon accepts a pending or registered trademark, so you can apply for Brand Registry once you have an application number. The name on your application has to match your brand exactly.

## What Amazon asks for

The brand name as it appears on your trademark record, a logo image, the trademark or application number, your product categories, and a photo of a product with the brand name permanently on it. Stickers and labels don't count.

## File the name you sell under

Amazon needs the brand name to match the trademark text exactly, so a shorter or longer version won't pass. A word mark covers the name itself. If you file a logo, you'll upload the image exactly as it appears on your record.

## Decide who owns it first

The trademark's owner has to apply to Brand Registry. If your LLC will own the brand, form the LLC first and file in its name. Moving a trademark to a new owner later takes another filing.

## What it unlocks

Amazon calls the program free, and lists A+ Content, Brand Stores, Sponsored Brands, Amazon Vine and Subscribe & Save among its tools.

## Questions

Can I join Brand Registry before my trademark registers?

Yes. Amazon says you can enroll with a pending application.

Which trademark office counts?

The office of a country with an Amazon store. For amazon.com, that's the USPTO.

Do I need an LLC for Brand Registry?

No. Amazon needs the trademark's owner to apply, and that can be you or a company.
