## When it's due

Between the 5th and 6th anniversary of registration. A 6-month grace period costs extra.

## What it is

Section 8 is required: you declare the mark is still in use for the goods and services listed, with a current specimen. Miss it and the USPTO cancels the registration.

Section 15 is optional and makes the registration incontestable on most grounds. You can file it if you've used the mark for 5 straight years and there's no pending challenge. We'll ask the two questions that decide it.

Declaring use for goods you no longer sell can void the whole registration. If it's only some of them, we remove the rest before you sign.
